A male rapist can be a ‘she’

O New York Times’ editors let a convicted man and double-rapist assume a “transgender” female identity, despite his vocal support for the #MeToo movement against sexual harassment.

The February 15 concession to the genetically intact rapist – who wears large tattoos on his face – was buried in an article about the resignation of Scotland’s Prime Minister Nicola Sturgeon.

She resigned, in part, because many Scots were deeply opposed to her strenuous support for a “self-identification” law that would allow men to freely appropriate their female identity simply by declaring they have a “transgender” identity. The New York newspaper announcement of Sturgeon’s sudden resignation read:

For Mrs. Sturgeon, transgender legislation is part of its stated commitment to protecting minority groups.

The debate was ignited by the case of Isla Bryson, who was convicted of raping two women before her gender transition. She was initially placed in a women’s prison, sparking protests over the safety of other female inmates. Mrs. Sturgeon later announced that Ms. Bryson had been transferred to a men’s prison.

Despite bitter opposition, Sturgeon pushed the “self-identification” law through the Scottish Parliament. But the law was quickly blocked by the London government. Sturgeon then announced that he would be taking legal action against the block.

The rapist was named Adam Graham when he was arrested. During the trial, he changed his name to “Isla Bryson” and declared himself female.

Although Sturgeon’s law was blocked, his declaration of a female “self-identification” caused public officials to let him serve his sentence in a women’s prison alongside women – many of whom faced male sexual abuse before being imprisoned.

Bryson’s statement also caused most of the UK media to describe Bryson as “she”.

Breitbart’s UK office reported on January 26:

This week, 31-year-old Isla Bryson was found guilty of two rapes in 2016 and 2019 while known as Adam Graham. Although Bryson initially appeared in court in July 2019 as a man, earlier in the trial the convicted rapist claimed to be a transgender woman and reported taking body-altering hormones and seeking sex reassignment surgery.

In 2017, the New York Times launched the #MeToo movement against male sexual harassment of women. But the New York Times accepted Bryson’s claim, in part, because the paper’s editors also accepted transgender ideology.

This ideology asserts that government should treat people’s self-declared “gender” as more legally and morally important than the nature of their female or male bodies.

The paper has published several thoughtful articles that challenge this assertion. But pro-transgender officials and contributors vehemently opposed any backtracking amid growing evidence of harm and inconsistency in transgender ideology. On the day of Sturgeon’s resignation, for example, Buzzfeed News reported:

A group of more than 170 trans, non-binary and cisgender New York Times contributors published an open letter on Wednesday, condemning the paper’s coverage of trans issues — particularly its reporting on trans youth and gender-affirming health.

In the United Kingdom, Bryson’s transfer to a women’s prison sparked many protests.

“It is almost impossible to believe that in a civilized society a man convicted of raping two women can be held in a women’s prison,” said Conservative MP Miriam Cates.

“Now we have the totally perverse situation where a Scottish court refers to someone who says they identify as a woman (as) using ‘his penis’ to rape two vulnerable women,” said Russell Findlay, a member of the Scottish parliament who serves as the Conservative Party candidate minister for community safety. “We warned of the inevitability of this happening if the (Sturgeon’s) gender self-identification law were passed,” he added.

“Rapists should not be in women’s prisons,” columnist Gina Davidson wrote on January 26:

Of course, not all trans women are violent or pose some kind of risk to women. Of course. Just like #notallmen.

But this one. Despite the hormones, the wig, the fingernails, it’s the same body, the same penis, that Bryson used to rape with which he’s been held in Cornton Vale, albeit segregated from other inmates, for two days.

Sturgeon bowed to public pressure on January 26th and transferred Bryson – nee Adam Graham – to a men’s prison:

But once Sturgeon decided to send the man who claimed to be a woman to a men’s prison, she was faced with the question of whether other “trans women” should be recognized as men or women:

Sturgeon attempted to divide the issue by describing Bryson as a rapist, regardless of legal gender. “She considers herself a woman… I consider the individual a rapist,” Sturgeon said.

In the United States, Breitbart closely followed the enormous civic damage caused by Democrat support for transgender advocacy.

Numerous polls show that the public strongly objects to Democrats’ support for “self-identification” and the underlying claim that each person – or child – has a “gender identity” that is not connected to a person’s male or female biology. President Joe Biden has repeatedly declared his support for transgenderism – biology and research notwithstanding – but has received very little resistance from the New York Times and other means of communication of the establishment.
