The team behind Alan Wake 2 confirmed that the game is in “full production” and “is playable from start to finish”.
Remedy Entertainment updated us on their progress in their most recent investor report. While acknowledging a “revenue dip” in the final quarter of the 2022 financial year, the studio says that “the extended scope and budget related to the development of alan wake 2 (opens in new tab)” should bring better results this year.
“Alan Wake 2 is in full production. Soon, the game will have all the content ready and will be playable from start to finish,” he said (opens in new tab) CEO Tero Virtala.
“Next, we’ll move on to polishing the experience. Alan Wake is a unique brand that has high value to the company today. Alan Wake Remastered has yet to generate royalties. However, we expect sales to increase as Alan Wake 2 releases.” becomes imminent, and fans and new players alike want to experience the original story on next-gen consoles.”
The report didn’t get us any closer to a release date – or even a release window – but it did reveal that Control 2 has “detailed concepts around the game’s vision and all creative areas, including gameplay, storytelling and art”, while its secret live service game, Codename Condor, “remains in the proof-of-concept stage”.
In a recent interview with GamesRadar+ (opens in new tab)Alan Wake 2 game director Kyle Rowley confirmed that players do not need to have played other Remedy games (opens in new tab) – including the first Alan Wake game or the remastered version – to enjoy Alan Wake 2.
“When we were creating the concept for Alan Wake 2, we had in mind that we wanted to create an experience that was welcoming to everyone,” says Rowley, “both new players who may not be familiar with Alan Wake or the Remedy Connected Universe and our fans, who have been on the journey with us and have enjoyed previous Remedy games.”

Alan Wake 2 is scheduled to release later this year in 2023 and is set to release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
