Chiefs scoring in Super Bowl 2023: Live updates, highlights as Kansas City tied Eagles in final minutes

The Chiefs have half of their Super Bowl LVII match with the Eagles on the books. In two quarters, it’s been a back-and-forth game, but Philadelphia has had a little more success, going into halftime with a two-goal lead.

After winning the toss and deferring to the second half, KC punted the ball to the Eagles, who marched 75 yards down the field for a kickoff touchdown. Patrick Mahomes and company would quickly respond with a touchdown of their own. However, the ensuing possession resulted in a missed field goal by Harrison Butker, which was exacerbated with another long Philadelphia touchdown. With momentum ebbing, the Chiefs defense became one of the greatest players of the first half, with Nick Bolton returning Jalen Hurts’ fumble 36 yards for a touchdown.

To date, KC’s biggest problem has been containing Hurts to the ground, as he threw two touchdowns on the ground, including one to take the lead just short of the two-minute warning. That will need to improve if the Chiefs are to rally in the second half and once again lift the Lombardi Trophy. But the biggest storyline that will be worth following over the course of this second half is the status of Patrick Mahomes, who seemed to aggravate his ankle injury in the final minutes of the first half.
