Activision has released the official launch trailer for Season 2 of Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2. Season 2 adds a Japanese theme with the new Ashika Island map for battle royale and DMZ.
The Season 2 launch trailer shows brief moments of action on Warzone 2’s new Ashika Island map. The Japanese-themed island is a smaller secondary map designed for Warzone 2’s respawn and DMZ modes, and the map will have seven points principals of interest.
In addition to Ashika Island, the Al Mazrah map is also getting a change to an existing POI. The trailer only shows a glimpse of the crash site added to the caves location, which longtime fans might recognize as the crashed plane from the Afghan map in 2009’s Modern Warfare 2. Al Mazrah’s caves already mimicked much of the map’s design Afghan, but the iconic crash site was absent from the area.
For another big change to the battle royale, the trailer shows the 1v1 Gulag scaled down to Al Mazrah, and players can expect the same familiar scenario. The Season 2 Gulag will remain in the same location as the Season 1 Prison, but the size of the Gulag will be reduced to suit the 1v1 play style.
Season 2 will also introduce five weapons for multiplayer and battle royale. The Hemlock ISO Assault Rifle, KV Broadside Shotgun, and Dual Kodachis Melee Weapon will be included in the free levels of the new Battle Pass, while the Tempus Torrent Crossbow and Marksman Rifle will be available to unlock through in-game challenges. .
Season 2 arrives on February 15th. To learn more, check out all the major announcements for Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 Season 2, which includes DMZ clearing, ranked play for multiplayer, major battle royale changes, and more.
