Despite the immense controversy surrounding her personal politics, Evangeline Lilly says she was always respected by Marvel, and there was never an indication that she would be fired due to her political views.
Lilly, who plays Wasp in the MCU, has faced backlash due to her support of anti-vaccine talking points. In January 2022, the star attended an anti-vaxx rally in Washington, D.C. to show her support for “body sovereignty”. She has also posted anti-vaxx messages on her social media accounts, including an Instagram post saying, “I believe that no one should be forced to inject anything into their body, against their will, under threat of violent assault, arrest or detention without trial. , job loss, homelessness, starvation, loss of education, alienation of loved ones, excommunication from society… under any threat.”
However, Lilly assures that Marvel has always supported her as their Hope van Dyne. Lilly has been with Marvel since 2015’s Ant-Man and currently stars in the newest MCU film, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, directed by Peyton Reed. On a recent episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Lilly said Marvel never told her how to live her personal life.
