Mike Krzyzewski attends Duke’s first game in Cameron since retirement

DURHAM, NC — Former Duke men’s basketball coach and Hall of Famer Mike Krzyzewski played his first game at Cameron Indoor Stadium Tuesday night since retiring last April.

Coach K, who spent 42 years on the Duke bench, was on hand to honor former assistant Mike Brey, who said this is his last season at Notre Dame. Brey was Krzyzewski’s assistant at Duke from 1987 to 1995.

Krzyzewski said during his final season in 2021-22 that he did not plan to watch games during Jon Scheyer’s first season so as not to be a distraction. But the opportunity to honor a former assistant brought him back to an arena where he has raised countless flags.
